Presentation: Pulmo THF Premix is a free-flowing formulation consisting of tiamulin hydrogen fumarate in a cereal based carrier for administration in pig and poultry feed.
Composition: 200g/kg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate.
Uses: Actions: The following organisms show sensitivity to tiamulin hydrogen fumarate in vitro. Treponema: Serpulina hyodysenteriae, Serpulina pilosicoli. Mycoplasmas: Mycoplasma hyopnemoniae, M.hyorhinis, M. hyosynoviae, M. dispar, M. bovirhinis, M.bovis, Ureaplasma spp., M. gallisepticum, M.synoviae, M. meleagridis. Gram-positive: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes. Gram-negative: Pastaurella spp, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) spp., Flusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteriodes spp., Campylobacter coli, Lawsonia intarcellularis.
Indications: For the treatment, prevention and control of swine dysentery caused by Serpulina hyodysenteriae and complicated by Fusobacterium spp. and Bacteroides spp.. As an acid in the control of the enzooti pneumonia complex in pigs. For the prevention and treatment of CRD caused by M. gallisepticum and M. synoviae.
Pig dosage & administration: For the treatment of clinical swine dysentery: 5mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg b/w daily, administered for 7 to 10 days. An inclusion rate of 500g Pulmo THF 200 Premix (equivalent to 100g tiamulin hdrogen fumarate) per 1 tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs. Following recovery, continue medication at the preventative level to prevent recurrence of the disease. For the control & prevention of swine dysentery: 1.5-2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg b/w, administered throughout the period of risk to control re-infection. An inclusion rate of 150-200g Pulmo THF 200 Premix (equivalent to 30 - 40g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs. Feed throughout the period of risk to prevent re-infection. As an aid in the control of enzootic pneumonia complex in pigs: 1.5-2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg b/w daily administered for up to 2 months during the period of risk. An inclusion rate of 150-200g Pulmo THF 200 Premix (equivalent to 30-40g tiamulin hydrogen fumarate) per tonne of feed should provide this dose in growing pigs. Inclusion rates: When medicating larger pigs, including breeding animals or where loss of appetite occurs, the inclusion level may need adjusting to give the correct dose. Example: Dose: 2mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg b/w.
Dose: 5mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg b/w
Poultry For the prevention of M.gallisepticum, M.synoviae, 1.0-1.5kg per 1 tonne of feed. Treat for 5-7 days. For the treatment of M.gallisepticum, M.synoviae, 1.5-2.5kg per 1 tonne of feed. Treat for 5-7 days Repeat treatments maybe required.
When mixing small quantities, it is advisable to hand-mix the required amount of premix into approximately 20kg of feed or feed supplement prior to mixing into the the complete feed.
Contra-indications, warnings etc. For animal treatment only To be used in pig/poultry rations only. Animals should not receive products containing monensin, narasin or salinomycin, during or at least seven days before or after treatment with tiamulin at 100g per tonne (equivalent to 5mg/kg/b/w) daily dose. Severe growth depression or death may result. Interaction has been observed between tiamulin hydrogen fumarate at 30-40g per tonne in feed and narasin, at 70g per tonne of feed.
Caution: When mixing, direct contact with the skin and mucous membranes should be avoided. Precautions: On rare occasions erythema or mild oedema of the skin may occur in pigs following the use of tiamulin hydrogen fumarate. If there is no response to treatment within 5 days the diagnosis should be re-established. Severely affected pigs showing loss of appetite should be medicated with Tiamulin 200 Injection. Keep out of the reach of children
Pharmaceutical precautions Store below 25°C in a place. Protect from light. Pulmo THF 200 Premix will remain stable in the finished feed or vitamin/minerals premixes for 3 months. To ensure thorough dispersion, the product should first be mixed with a suitable quantity of feed ingredients before incorporation into the final mix.
Further information Studies have shown that 30-40gper tonne feed tiamulin hydrogen fumarate in the feed will reduce production losses associated with enzootic pneumonia. A reduction in clinical disease incidence or severity may not necessarily be seen. Attention should be paid to ventilation and stocking in conjunction with medication. Good milling and mixing procedures should be followed when mixing feeds containing Pulmo THF 200 Premix. The product is compatible with recommended doses of chlortetracycline and tylosin. Studies have shown that at tiamulin hydrogen fumarate inclusion levels of 30-40g per tonne (equivalent to 1.5-2.0mg/kg b/w daily) no interaction occurs with salinomycin at 60g per tonne of feed or monensinat 100g per tonne of feed
